Movie Collector Pro is a professional software application designed to help you create a movie database which contains detailed information about each movie and loaned items. The user interface may seem a bit crowded at a fist glance but this is only because the program comes packed with a multitude of dedicated parameters. Collectorz.com Movie Collector gives you the possibility to add movies to the database by title, new releases or most popular items, group movies into folders, perform searches throughout the entire database, catalogue DVDs by their barcode, and scan your folders for movie titles.
The application grabs movie information from its online database, and you can also manually edit the information about the movie, such as title, country, language, genre, studio, rating, cast and crew, edition, episodes, cover images, Descrion, notes, and links.
What's more, the information can be printed or exported to HTML, XML, plain text format, or other file formats, and you can view pie and bar charts, and sort movies by title, genre, and rating,
The tool is also able to list all episodes (e.g. title, running time, Descrion), and lets you add links to websites, cover images, and other related photos, edit multiple movies in a row without closing the editing screen, and find missing cover images.
Last but not least, you can make the program automatically backup the collection to a file, enable notifications about loaned movies, apply filters, and create a wishlist or specify which items are on order or sale, or in your possession.
During our testing we have noticed that the tool carries out a task very quickly and without errors throughout the entire process.
All in all, Collectorz.com Movie Collector bundles a handy set of features for helping you create a movie database. On the downside, the entire process is not very intuitive, so rookies may spend some trying to configure the dedicated parameters.
Whats New :
New: "Search-As-You-Type" suggestions when adding movies by title
If you are adding most of your movies "By Title", then this will be a huge time-saver.
Here's how the new "Search-As-You-Type" feature works:
In the Add Movies Automatically screen, just start typing the first letters of the title you want to add.
While typing, a drop-down list will appear, showing the five most popular titles that match,
including the release year and a small thumbnail image.
For recent / popular movies, it usually takes only 2 or 3 letter before it shows up.
For older or less popular movies, type a few more letters.
Once you see your movie appear, use the arrow keys to select it, then hit Enter.
Then under Search Results, that exact movie will be listed, automatically Previewed on the right.
Click the Add Selected button to add it to your database.
Important: this is an *extra* tool, that makes it easier and faster to add recent and/or popular movies
(although you should be able to find any older or less popular movie by typing more letters).
It is not a replacement of the normal title search, which still works like it always did :-)
Some background: This new tool is doing an online search request to our server with every letter you type in the Search box, the results instantly updating the drop-down list with the 5 most popular matches.
To make these instant "suggestions" possible, our webdev guys have developed a completely new movie suggestions search engine. This new "Search-As-You-Type" engine is now running on its' own separate web-server in our server farm.
Main Screen: the folder tree was wrapping the folder names, causing a messy list.
Edit Episode: field labels didn't show personalized field names.
When working offline, closing the program could cause Access Violations.
